General Plumbing Supply (Edison, New Jersey) has announced that Joe Novak has stepped down as president effective Dec. 31, 2018. He will stay on in an advisory role to assist in the transition until March 31, 2019.
Justin Freedman has been promoted to president after serving across the business in roles from marketing director to vice president over the last 10 years. Bruce Tucker and Novak identified Freedman “as the most capable, qualified and deserving. He has worked tirelessly and is exactly the person to bring GPS forward.”
Ian Ebner will also be promoted to the role of vice president of sales. He has served in roles from inside sales and most recently as branch manager of GPS’s Ridgefield, New Jersey, branch for 10 years. Ebner will work with customers throughout GPS’s entire coverage area to continue the same success that he has shown through his branch leadership.
Novak started working at GPS around 35 years ago when GPS had just opened its second branch. Now, Novak is leaving GPS as a 17-branch regional sales company with locations throughout New Jersey and New York.
“He has more than left his mark on GPS and together we have set the company on the path it is today," said Tucker of Novak. "We are excited for this next phase as we continue to grow and look forward to being one of the largest family-owned plumbing and heating supply businesses in the country.”
