In 2016, PHCPpros made its first official statement about diversifying the industry through our inaugural women’s editorial feature. Putting that feature together, I stepped back for the first time and assessed how we were not only doing the work, we were living it.
I was surround by powerful women professionals in the office every day; so much so that I had not had the reality check that we were the exception and not the norm. At the time, our company was made up of 45% women and 55% men. All of our editorial leadership team was women. And we were, and remain, one of the few publishing companies in our industry with a woman principal.
I am proud to report that the trend continues, and has actually improved! Today, our company is majority women, with 58% women and 42% men. Our newest shero on the team is Nicole Meyer!
Nicole is taking the helm of our newly created position of Digital Media Associate. A creative writer and communications strategist, she brings to us her diverse experience in marketing and journalism. Specializing in tailoring content, audience segmentation and user engagement, she will be key to expanding our branding, marketing and sales opportunities. Our third MIZZOU addition to the PHCPPros team, Nicole earned two bachelors from the University of Missouri in Journalism and Spanish.
Don’t be shy with your ideas and introductions! Nicole will be hanging out with me at this year’s Greenbuild Conference & Expo if you want to meet her in person. And, you can always reach out to her by email.
As always, it is a pleasure spotlighting women in our industry and the sisterhood we are creating for ourselves in this space. If you would like to share a spotlight for our next newsletter, contact me here.
In the meantime, be sure to look for the December issue of Plumbing Engineer where we will celebrate the American Society of Plumbing Engineer’s first woman president of the board, our very own columnist Carol Johnson!
