Stone Forest’s Elemental Collection received the 2018 GOOD DESIGN Award in the Bath Accessories category from The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and Metropolitan Arts Press Ltd. Since 1950, this award has been bestowed annually upon the world’s leading designers and has acknowledged manufacturers for outstanding products that stretch the boundaries of design. Submissions to the GOOD DESIGN program are judged by highly-regarded professionals within the design industry who, according to GOOD DESIGN, look for "the highest aesthetic in terms of innovative design, new technologies, form, materials, construction, concept, function, utility, and energy efficiency, and sensitivity to the environment.”
“We are thrilled to be receiving the prestigious GOOD DESIGN award for our new Elemental collection and are honored to be acknowledged alongside such an esteemed group of designers and manufacturers," said Michael Zimber, CEO. "What Stone Forest has sought to do with this collection is address the modern need for customization without compromising any aspect of design or aesthetics, and all the while staying true to our vision of crafting these pieces from quarried, natural stone. We have created a unique, modular bath furniture collection in which consumers are provided with all of the ‘elements’ to work with from vanity design, sink styles, accompanying storage systems, and incredible natural stone and finish options — each piece being held to the absolute highest standards of design in both form and function. We are proud and grateful for this concept and collection to be recognized by the GOOD DESIGN award program.”
The design team behind the winning Elemental Collection was led by Stone Forest’s Michael Cahill in collaboration with Zimber. It consists of vanities and integrated sinks and boasts a number of interesting facets. The vanities are comprised of brass legs with knurled fittings supporting a combination of stone, wood and steel components. This unique modular concept allows individuals to combine integral stone sinks, wood drawers and steel or wood shelving in unlimited combinations to create bath consoles and stand-alone storage systems. Brass legs and fittings are available in several finishes. The Elemental Collection is offered as a single or double vanity.
New 2019 additions to the Elemental Collection include: the Ventus Wall Hung Sink and Elemental Trough Sink. Starting with a solid block of stone, the Ventus Wall Hung Sink is expertly carved and honed into a thin-walled basin with linear horizontal surfaces. The sink is available in sleek, minimalistic Antique Gray Limestone or classic Carrara Marble and is supported by new matte black, aged brass or polished nickel hardware with knurled fittings. Not only does the Ventus Wall Hung Sink combine a slim appearance with solid construction, but it’s also ADA compliant. Stone Forest’s Elemental Trough Sink is distinguished by a lithe, slender washbasin available in Antique Gray Limestone or Carrara Marble. The solid and sturdy console creates an open space that is mitigated by slim, streamlined legs with knurled fittings, offered in a new matte black, aged brass or polished nickel.
