For a decade, Samuel Dannaway has contributed to Plumbing Engineer magazine as the monthly “SFPE Corner” columnist. Dannaway is a licensed fire protection and mechanical engineer, past president and fellow of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) and vice president of Fire Protection Technology at Coffman Engineers Inc. June will mark Dannaway’s final column for the magazine.
In July, the “SFPE Corner” torch will be passed to Victoria B. Valentine, P.E. Valentine is the director of Professional Qualifications and Industry Alliances for SFPE. Prior to taking on this role in 2017, she served as director of Engineering, director of Product Standards, and manager of Product Standards for the National Fire Sprinkler Association (NFPA).
“It is an honor to be able to carry the message of fire protection to all related fields that work with the information and systems. I have worked with Sam on many committees throughout my career and hope that I can carry forward the message of quality fire protection like he has for the past decade,” Valentine said.
An active member of the industry, Valentine currently contributes her time to the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), ASCE Lehigh Valley Chapter, International Code Council, NFPA, National Institute of Building Sciences, Society of Fire Protection Engineers, SFPE NY Metropolitan Chapter, and SFPE NJ/NY Metro Chapters Education Foundation.
Valentine earned a M.S. in Fire Protection Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and a B.S. in Civil Engineering with a minor in Spanish from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
