The Portland Group, a family-owned, fourth-generation plumbing and heating company, announced its acquisition of Middlesex Supply, a three-branch family-owned company based in Connecticut. The sale will be finalized by the end of October.
Middlesex Supply operates New Shepard Supply and Clinton Supply in Middletown, Vernon and Clinton, Connecticut, respectively. A fourth-generation family owned business founded by the Miller Family in 1929, Middlesex Supply will now fall under The Portland Group umbrella. The Portland Group currently has wholesale branches in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Maine, as well as four retail showroom locations: Splash, its interactive design center in Newton, Massachusetts, and Spritzo with locations in Saco, Maine, Providence, Rhode Island and Worcester, Massachusetts.
“Middlesex Supply Co., a family owned business for 89 years, is pleased to join the Fox/Rose family of The Portland Group,” states Bob Miller, CEO of Middlesex Supply Company.
“Middlesex Supply, like The Portland Group, is built on family values, which was very important to us,” states Howard Rose of The Portland Group.
“We’re very excited for our new venture and to continue what the Miller family started all those years ago,” adds Richard Fox of The Portland Group.
Founded in 1930 by the Rose and Fox families, four generations and almost 90 years later The Portland Group has evolved into one of New England’s leading wholesalers of plumbing, heating, and air conditioning. Nationally recognized, The Portland Group is known for their vision in promoting innovative products that create new opportunities. Their success has been built on the foundation of their strong relationships and their commitment to changing with the times, while at the same time continuing with the traditions that have made them successful.
