Aside from apple cider donuts and jumping in leaf piles, Archtober (Architecture + October) is Duravit’s favorite part of the season. There are exciting events happening during the festive month, from the Architecture and Design Film Festival to showroom previews during Open House New York.
As a part of Archtober, Duravit's annual Design Week kicks off with a party on October 1, featuring BIG's New York Director of Interiors Francesca Portesine. Their NYC Showroom, 105 Madison Avenue, New York, will be open on October 2. Duravit USA President Tim Schroeder will be hosting showroom tours to highlight the brand's 2018 chrome XSquare and playful Brioso.
The 5th annual Short Films Walk returns to the Soho Design District on October 3. Architects, designers and design lovers are invited to pop in and out of 13 of SoHo's top design showrooms for festive libations and a unique curated selection of short films.
In addition, from October 16-21, the Architecture and Design Film Festival (ADFF) will take place. The festival is devoted to architecture and design and will return to NYC for a historic 10th season. ADFF will feature a robust program of filmmaker Q&As, panel discussions, pop-up installations, and 25+ films. Among these powerful documentaries is a film called "Building Justice", directed by Ultan Guilfoye, that explores the future of prison design through a student project under the direction of Frank Gehry, Gary Hustwit's new documentary about the iconic German industrial designer Dieter Rams, and the festival's first ever closing film, "Renzo Piano: Architect of Light", from celebrated Spanish director Carlos Saura.
