The American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE) has hired Ramiro Mata to the position of senior director of technical and regulatory affairs. In this role, Ramiro will build and maintain relationships with other industry organizations to ensure that the public’s health and safety are kept at the forefront of legislation and regulations regarding plumbing system design, installation, inspection, and maintenance.
“ASPE has been building its presence in the codes and standards arena for several years, and with Ramiro on the team the Society will have a fulltime staff member devoted to strengthening the voice of plumbing engineers/designers in the development of consistent, safe plumbing codes and standards,” said ASPE Executive Director/CEO Billy Smith, FASPE.
Ramiro joins the ASPE staff after a 29-year engineering career in electrical utility, medical device manufacturing, and plumbing product certification. Ramiro has been involved with codes and standards development as a staff engineer with ASSE International and as a Senior Test Engineer, technical sales specialist and global strategic account manager/industrial relations in the plumbing and construction business unit with CSA Group. He has been a member of ASPE since 2013 and is currently in ASPE’s Cleveland Chapter.
“I’m extremely excited to have the opportunity to work closely with the Society’s staff, our membership, and the industry as a whole, and the plumbing engineering industry in particular, in the interest of developing consistent codes and standards throughout all organizations and processes,” Ramiro said.
