The Canadian Mechanical and Plumbing Exposition attracted the next generation of skilled workers at its 2018 show, held in March at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in Toronto.

Student registration was up 28 percent compared to CMPX 2016.

“It is gratifying to see so many young people interested in an HVACR career attending the show and having the opportunity to see our industry firsthand,” CMPX chair Dennis Kozina said. “This provides an very optimistic outlook for the workforce needs of our industry going forward.”

The show also offered secondary and post-secondary students with an opportunity to test their skills and task knowledge in the HVAC industry for The Heating Systems Gauntlet.

CMPX 2018 featured a sold-out show floor with more than 500 exhibitors. On the show floor theatre, free educational sessions from industry experts centered on daily themes geared to contracting firm owners and managers, engineers and senior professionals in the mechanicals industry and technicians and contractors.

CMPX is jointly produced by the Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada and the Canadian Institute of Plumbing and Heating. The 2020 show will be held again at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre from March 25-27.
