The 2018 International Code Council Committee Action Hearings are being held on April 15-23 in Columbus, Ohio. The hearings offer code officials, architects, builders, engineers, designers, plumbing professionals, construction trade associations and other interested parties an opportunity to provide input on proposed code changes to the Group A International Codes (I-Codes). Registration for the hearings is now open.
The I-Codes are a family of fifteen coordinated, modern building safety codes used throughout the world that protect against disasters like fires, weather-related events and structural collapse. The April hearings are the first chance to publicly review proposed code changes and provide feedback for the 2021 I-Codes. The code development process for the 2021 codes will take three years and is open, transparent and inclusive. Now available online is the hearing schedule and complete list of proposed code changes.
“As the most widely used and adopted set of building safety codes, the I-Codes impact the lives of 450 million people in the U.S. and throughout the world,” said Code Council Chief Executive Officer Dominic Sims, CBO. “Our code development process is open to all stakeholders, and we encourage everyone to take an active interest and participate in the process.”
The Group A Codes include the International Building Code (egress, fire safety, general); International Fire Code; International Fuel Gas Code; International Mechanical Code; International Plumbing Code; International Property Maintenance Code; International Private Sewage Disposal Code; International Residential Code (mechanical, plumbing); International Swimming Pool and Spa Code; International Wildland-Urban Interface Code; and International Zoning Code.
A live video feed will be available online for those who cannot attend the hearings in person.
