Bead Industries Inc., a Cheshire subsidiary connected with plumbing fixture manufacturer McGuire Manufacturing, has promoted Jill Bryant Mayer to CEO.

Mayer, the great-granddaughter of Bead’s founder W. Calvin Bryant, is the company’s first female CEO.

"To be the first female CEO at Bead after more than a century of continuous operation isn't lost on me," Mayer said.

Mayer has been serving as corporate president since the company's previous CEO, her father, Kenneth Bryant, retired in Oct. 2014.

She is now responsible for overseeing executive management teams as well as leading the company’s growth and innovation.

Mayer will continue to report to the company's board of directors.
