Last week, a switch was flipped. After months of research and preparation, APR Supply Co.’s Dustin Hollinger, logistics and distribution center manager, activated the new solar power system that was installed this summer.
The panels cover the entire roof of APR Supply Co.’s headquarters in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. The solar panels are expected to fully power the 270,000 square foot building which houses both the distribution center and the corporate offices. In fact, enough power will be generated that the company hopes to sell power back to the local electric utility.
“The solar project allows APR to hedge against rising utility costs while at the same time reducing our carbon footprint”, states Zach Derr, chief financial officer for APR. “It is a win-win for the company and the environment.”
