Two Orange County, California, attorneys announced Thursday that they have filed a class-action lawsuit accusing builders in San Clemente’s 3,800-home Talega community of using copper pipe that is prone to developing leaks.
The suit alleges that copper pipes installed in a number of subdivisions in the San Clemente area were defective for the water conditions there. The builders should have used “stronger resistive” pipe, the suit said. Consequences include a need to repipe the home, damage to drywall and personal effects, the cost of relocation and temporary housing, the attorneys said.
