Debbie Sterling, founder and CEO of GoldieBlox, an award-winning company on a mission to "disrupt the pink aisle" with toys, games, and media for girls, is slated to be the keynote speaker at the 2018 ASHRAE Winter Conference & AHR Expo in Chicago.
Sterling is an engineer, entrepreneur, and one of the leaders in the movement toward getting girls interested in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). She was named TIME’s "Person of the Moment,” Business Insider’s "30 Women Who Are Changing the World,” and was recently added to Fortune Magazine’s prestigious “40 Under 40” list.
In early 2015, she was inducted as a Presidential Ambassador for Global Entrepreneurship and honored by the National Women’s History Museum with a “Living Legacy” Award for her work to empower girls around the world. Sterling received her degree in Engineering at Stanford University in 2005.
Her company, GoldieBlox, is an award-winning children’s multimedia company that challenges gender stereotypes with the world’s first girl engineer character. Through the integration of storytelling and STEM principles, GoldieBlox creates toys, books, apps, videos, animation and merchandise; the tools that empower girls to build their confidence, dreams and ultimately, their futures.
To date, GoldieBlox has had more than 1 million app downloads and more than 1 million toys sold across more than 6,000 major retailers worldwide.
It makes perfect sense for her to have been coined as the keynote speaker for the 2018 ASHRAE Winter Conference & AHR Expo in Chicago. Her talks are inspirational, and they based on personal success and growth.
