Woodridge, Ill. – It is with mixed emotion that Danze and Gerber, both leaders in the plumbing products category, announce the retirement of longstanding employee and true partner Ken James.
James joined Danze 14 years ago during its infancy and has since played a vital role in its development and growth. He later added responsibilities to help grow and expand the product line and customer base of Gerber.
James started his career in the wholesale plumbing business in 1962 when he became a sales trainee with Moen Faucet Company. Under the tutelage of Ed Brizz, he advanced quickly to regional sales manager, vice president of sales with a sales force covering the U.S. During this time he served on the board of the National Home Builders Council.
After 18 productive years with Moen, James was lured to InSinkErator where he built the brand to No. 1 in the industry. In 1984 he was offered an opportunity to start his own business as an independent sales rep in Southern California, which he aptly named Sales Support, Inc. He and his wife headed West and followed that very fulfilling career for 15 years. Before joining his last career stop at Danze and Gerber, James completed stints at Price Pfister and Briggs.
“Representing quality plumbing products has always been important to me,” James said. “But even more important is the customers satisfaction and trust. It takes years to build and I am grateful for all amazing people I have worked with and serviced for more than 50 years.”
This is James’ third attempt at retirement, but he’s pretty sure this one will stick as he looks forward to playing more golf and traveling with his wife Sherry.
Those who have had the privilege of working with James over the years will forever remember and respect his mantra of “Plan your work, and work your plan.”
