Washington – Heating, Air-conditioning & Refrigeration Distributors International (HARDI) awarded Senator Tim Scott (S.C.) and Rep. Pat Tiberi (Ohio) with the HARDI Small Business Champion Award during the association’s Congressional Fly-In on Wednesday.
The Small Business Champion Award is given to elected officials who promote and protect the interests of small businesses, which constitute a large portion of HARDI’s membership.
“Having been a successful small business owner himself, Senator Scott is keenly aware of small business’ important role in job creation and strengthening our economy,” said HARDI CEO Talbot Gee. “Scott’s vision for economic freedom and his optimism for achieving the American Dream complement HARDI’s goals in Washington.”
Senator Scott, who has worked on several bills in support of small business since taking office in 2013, expressed his gratitude and honor receiving the award.
“HARDI is an effective voice for their members as Congress examines ways of making the tax code simpler and more transparent,” said Tiberi. “Bringing stability and certainty to the tax code will help small employers, like many HARDI members, better plan and grow their businesses. I am honored to be named a Small Business Champion by its members, and look forward to continue working with them to ensure small businesses have opportunities to thrive.”
“Congressman Tiberi has been a key player in the fight for a fairer tax code,” said Jon Melchi, HARDI vice president government affairs & business development. “Thanks to his efforts in Washington, our members – and all small businesses – can continue to succeed, to grow and to provide jobs for their communities.”
More than 80 HARDI members attended the awards ceremony as part of the Fly-In event.
