The PVF Roundtable will host its annual golf tournament on Monday, May 12th, at The Clubs of Kingwood in Kingwood, Texas. Title sponsors Ferguson Industrial and Weldbend Corporation will lead teams across three courses, competing for the coveted first-place trophy. But this tournament isn’t just about winning — it’s about giving back. Proceeds from the event will support local colleges and trade schools by providing scholarships to students pursuing careers in the pipe, valve, and fittings (PVF) industry, including engineering, welding, and non-destructive testing.
“Our goal is to empower students to pursue their passion through education in the trades and to join our industry after graduation as the future leaders of the PVF market,” said Sara Alford, president of Newmans Valve and president of The PVF Roundtable. “We’re developing an online education program and a career page where scholarship recipients can apply to our member companies and join the workforce that helped them succeed. Once hired, our online training materials — covering valves, pipe, forgings, fittings, and flanges — will be available for new employees through training videos and educational content provided by our members. This resource is not only a valuable membership perk but also a step toward building a stronger industry through proper training.”
The Clubs of Kingwood golf course is best known as the setting for the 1996 film Tin Cup starring Kevin Costner and has been the home of this tournament for several years. The PVF Roundtable Golf Tournament features the iconic Island Course Hole No. 18, recognized by Golf Digest as one of golf’s toughest finishing holes and ranked among Texas’ top 50 courses by The Dallas Morning News. This hole demands three exceptional shots — or two perfect ones — to navigate both an island fairway and an island green. Past winners on this course include Epic Piping, Weldbend Corporation, MRC Global, Setpoint, Lockwood Partners, and many more.
Another favorite, The Lake Course, is dotted with lakes and ponds, featuring a challenging 549-yard Hole No. 5 that doglegs around a lake, as well as the toughest par-4 on the course at 459 yards, with water guarding the green. The Forest Course offers a unique challenge, spanning Lake Houston’s marshy terrain with deep bunkers and narrow fairways. Recognized in 1998 as the 16th best course in Texas by Golf Digest, this course provides a variety of challenging hole configurations. Teams may request their preferred course upon registration, so early sign-ups are encouraged — first come, first served!
Throughout the tournament, players will enjoy sponsored tents offering networking opportunities, company information, giveaways, golf towels, hats, games, prizes, and more. The event will conclude with an awards ceremony, dinner, raffles, and a silent auction.
As one of The PVF Roundtable’s largest charitable events, this tournament plays a significant role in funding scholarships, with the TroutBlast Fishing Tournament in October as a close second. Jamie Meade, director of sales and marketing at Hawk Valve and PVF Roundtable Board of Directors golf lead chair, has managed this event for the past seven years.
“This is a can’t-miss event for anyone in the PVF industry,” Meade said. “Whether you’re an end-user, in sales, a manufacturer, or in distribution, this is the place to network with every major company in the industry. I’m proud of the lives we’re changing through our scholarship donations. This tournament has evolved into more than just a game — it’s an industry tradition.”
