The American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE) is pleased to announce that Josh Pedraja, ASSE 6060, has joined the staff as the Society’s director of education and certification. In this newly created role, Pedraja will be responsible for managing all of ASPE’s educational offerings and ASPE’s three certification programs (Certified in Plumbing Design, Certified Plumbing Design Technician, and Green Plumbing Design), and he will assist in the development of ASPE’s new medgas and healthcare initiatives.
Pedraja has almost 20 years of experience in the medical gas industry with various roles such as service coordinator, inside sales, customer support, and outside sales. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois with an emphasis in music and education. Before joining ASPE, Pedraja represented Patton’s Medical, where he covered the central U.S. and helped educate engineering firms, contractors, medical/lab facilities, distributors, and service partners about Patton’s products and services. He previously was the national account manager for a major health network, where he helped create medical vacuum and air system sizing standards. He also worked with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) on designing and building mobile hospital trailers to treat Covid-19 hotspots and natural disaster relief efforts.
“Josh has been presenting technical education sessions for ASPE Society and Chapter events for several years, and his background in education and plumbing design is a perfect fit for our director of education and certification position,” said Billy Smith, FASPE, ASPE’s executive director and CEO. “I am excited to welcome Josh to our staff and look forward to working with him to fulfill our mission of enhancing education opportunities for plumbing engineers and designers.”
An ASPE member since 2020, Josh is affiliated with the Eastern Michigan Chapter, where he has served as vice president, Membership, and corresponding secretary, as well as the Region 2 affiliate liaison. He also is active with the Central Ohio, Cleveland, and Chicago Chapters and has been a member of ASPE’s Membership Committee and Affiliate Advisory Committee.
