The Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association (SMACNA), a leader in promoting quality and excellence in the sheet metal and air conditioning industry, has been selected as the recipient of a 2024 National Safety Council (NCS) Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) Safety Champion Award for its BE4ALL Safety Sponsorship Program.
SMACNA was honored for its outstanding achievement in promoting diversity and for its commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive and equitable workplace for all. The SMACNA Safety and Health Committee, in partnership with the sheet metal industry's BE4ALL initiative, created the BE4ALL Safety Sponsorship Program to engage safety professionals who share a vision of improving the industry’s work culture and attracting and retaining a diverse, highly skilled and unionized workforce. Other components of SMACNA’s program are its emphasis on professional development, education, and networking.
“We are incredibly honored to receive recognition from the National Safety Council. We are proud of the meaningful change the program is driving across the sheet metal industry and have seen remarkable progress where every individual is valued and empowered,” said Aaron Hilger, SMACNA's CEO.
Valerie McLane, SMACNA’s process improvement manager, accepted the award on behalf of the association at the 2024 NSC Safety Congress & Expo.
