Bosch Home Comfort, a leading source of high-quality heating, cooling, and hot-water systems, is offering a live webcast, informational guide, and other A2L training resources on its R-454B refrigerant heat pumps, in partnership with industry experts at Honeywell and ESCO Institute. Through this training initiative, the company aims to help HVAC professionals prepare for the industry-wide shift to low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants.
"Bosch Home Comfort deeply values professional training on both the technology and best practices for safely installing the equipment as designed," said Dr. Alexander Wuthnow, president and CEO of Bosch Home Comfort North America in an earlier announcement. "As the industry pivots to lower global warming potential refrigerants, contractor education will become even more critical in 2024 and beyond."
Bosch is Ready for the Transition to Low GWP
All HVAC manufacturers in the United States, including Bosch, are transitioning their product lines to incorporate low-GWP refrigerants over the next several years due to American Innovation and Manufacturing (AIM) Act, which requires the reduction of Hydrofluorocarbons (HFC) by 85% through 2036. Heat pumps and air-conditioner systems that use refrigerants with a global warming potential (GWP) above 700 will not be manufactured after Dec. 31, 2024. Systems may be sold and installed through December 31, 2025.
Bosch is prepared for the transition and released its first low GWP-ready heat pumps in April—the CL and RL Series water source heat pump solutions for commercial and residential markets, equipped with Honeywell Solstice 454B refrigerant. The company will continue to introduce low GWP heat pumps throughout the year.
Live Webcast: Transitioning to A Low-GWP Future with Bosch A2L Equipment
Bosch, Honeywell, and ESCO Institute are joining forces in a live webcast, Transitioning to A Low-GWP Future with Bosch A2L Equipment, to share important technical information on the refrigerant change. Attendees will have a unique opportunity to learn firsthand from engineers and educators at Bosch and Honeywell about the best practices for safe handling, maintaining, and installing these new refrigerants.
The session will be broadcast simultaneously across Bosch, Honeywell, and ESCO Institute platforms on May 9, 2024, at 4:30 pm ET. Click on one of these links to tune in to the live webcast from Bosch Home Comfort's social media channels: LinkedIn, YouTube, and Facebook. The video will also be available to watch on-demand following the livestream.
