The Contractors Against Cancer Golf Tournament & Concert benefiting the Colorectal Cancer Alliance (Alliance), the nation’s largest nonprofit organization dedicated to ending the disease, will bring together celebrities, local DMV businesses, and passionate allies at its inaugural event on August 25-26, 2024. The golf and concert fundraising event will take place at TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm in Potomac, Maryland, and will support the Alliance’s efforts to combat colorectal cancer and support those who have been affected by the deadly disease.
Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths for men and women combined, and cases are rising in people under age 50. It is now the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in men under 50 and researchers estimate that it will be the deadliest cancer in people aged 20-49 by 2030. Despite being more fatal than most cancers, colorectal cancer is less known among the public and less funded in research institutions.
To help raise critically needed funds to combat the disease, the two-day event will feature an evening live auction and concert with celebrated musician, Edwin McCain and special guest Ryan Cabrera on August 25. The golf tournament on August 26 will pair each foursome with a celebrity. Proceeds from the event will benefit the community served by the Colorectal Cancer Alliance, which provides programs that advocate for prevention, magnify support, and accelerate research.
“Colorectal cancer affects so many Americans, and with cases continuing to rise in younger adults, the Alliance is committed to advocating for better solutions,” says Michael Sapienza, CEO of the Colorectal Cancer Alliance. “The Alliance is grateful to donors and allies of Contractors Against Cancer for driving awareness and support for our mission to end this disease in our lifetime.”
