The Florida Panthers and Air Pros USA, a leading residential air conditioning company and the official air conditioning partner for the NHL team, joined forces with Rebuilding Together Broward County to donate a brand-new air conditioning unit and complimentary installation to a deserving mother and her son.
In the aftermath of the devastating floods in Broward County of 2023, one family continues to struggle with the challenge of rebuilding as well as replacing their flooded air conditioning unit. Sherly Fairchild, a 76-year-old homeowner with disabilities, along with her adult son Morris, who has used a wheelchair since birth, faced unprecedented circumstances when their home was inundated with floodwaters. Lacking flood insurance, their resources to recover from the storm were severely limited.
"As a company founded in Broward County, our mission is to support the community we serve," said Anthony Perera, founder of Air Pros USA. "We are truly grateful that our partnership with the Florida Panthers has led us to supporting Rebuilding Together Broward County, so that we can provide this life changing gift for this family in need."
In an uplifting display of community solidarity, Dania Beach Commissioner Joyce Davis referred Fairchild to Rebuilding Together Broward County, an organization dedicated to eliminating unsafe and deplorable living conditions for low-income homeowners who are elderly, Veterans, and/or have disabilities.
"As we come together to support Sherly and Morris, this partnership between the Florida Panthers, Air Pros USA, and Rebuilding Together Broward County demonstrates the resilience and compassion that embodies our community," said Joyce L. Davis, city of Dania Beach commissioner.
"This collective effort underscores the power of collaboration in addressing the pressing needs of those affected by adversity, reaffirming the unwavering spirit of solidarity in the South Florida community," said Rita Killinger, director of development and community engagement for Rebuilding Together Broward County.
Despite receiving a modest sum from FEMA, Fairchild had insufficient funds to cover essential repairs, especially after a contractor took off with the money allocated for kitchen restoration. The immediate focus has been to provide the family with a new HVAC system to enhance their quality of life as the Florida summer heat looms. Thanks to the remarkable alliance, brought together by Air Pros USA's partnership with the Florida Panthers, Fairchild and her son now have the comfort and safety of a temperature-controlled house.
"It is always wonderful to have the synergy between our community and corporate partners coming together to make opportunities like this come to life for this deserving mother and son," said John Colombo, vice president of Florida Panthers Foundation and community relations. "This aligns perfectly with the mission of the Panthers Foundation to make a consistent impact and support our South Florida community all year long."
