In 2023, PHCPPros launched a new rep agency specifically for brand ambassadors in the PHCP community, PROS REPS. Our clients include highly skilled and influential professionals who showcase their profession, love of the trades, and the products they use and install to their thousands of social media followers.
PROS REPS client Francisco Pastor is NATE Certified, a VRF specialist and the founder and owner of Climaster LLC in Georgia. He has a passion for teaching, and he decided to showcase his work online to provide greater HVAC education in Spanish. Francisco was also recently nominated for 'Best Social Content' at the 2024 HVAC Tactical Awards for the posts he shares to more than 95,000 followers across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube.
PHCPPros: How did you enter a career in the trades?
Pastor: When I was a kid, I tore apart my toys to see how they worked (90% percent of the time I was not able to put them back together). I also always liked to repair stuff, so in the military I repaired war tanks as a mechanic. During that time, I learned how to read schematics and follow instructions and manuals properly. Then, I met a guy who repaired refrigeration equipment. He turned into my first mentor and helped me discover and polish my passion for air conditioning.
PHCPPros: How did you find your specialty within the trades?
Pastor: I specialize in residential air conditioning and home comfort. I've chosen this niche because I like to solve issues in a personal manner. I love to talk to people and show them how I accomplish the results, always trying to educate customers and technicians with honesty and passion. When you discover your passion and make it a job, it starts being fun.
PHCPPros: Why did you decide to start using social media to share what you do with the world at large?
Pastor: I started using social media to find answers about problems that I couldn't resolve. I learned air conditioning through my career with old-fashioned technicians who were selfish with their knowledge. I wanted to break that chain, so I started sharing knowledge in a nice and easy way. It took me awhile to earn respect in the trade because I was too nice. I started improving my teaching skills, and while I was practicing, I learned way more as well. I keep learning every day. I really love being honest and enthusiastic and motivating people to succeed.
PHCPPros: What is your favorite type of content to share with your followers? What gets the most engagement?
Pastor: I have the most engagement on my 'How To' content. I originally started explaining complicated stuff, but I realized there was a need to teach basic stuff in the trade as well. My motivation is always try to help at least one of my viewers.
PHCPPros: What kind of advice would you give to people in the industry who may want to do something similar to you on social media?
Pastor: Find your passion and learn it as much as you can. Share your knowledge, and you will see that you will learn more. Take all the resources available to you and use them. We are humans — be authentic, be yourself, and you will see more people like you and engage with you.
PHCPPros: How do you think the industry can use social media as a tool to encourage the next generation to join the trades?
Pastor: Sharing real-life success stories can open a lot of opportunities. Social media connects more people than ever, and if used in the right way, can make the world a better place. When new generations watch us on social media, we can impact their lives for the better — that's my main goal.
PHCPPros: What kind of advice would you give people who are looking to enter the trades?
Pastor: Get your foot in the door. Try the trade working as a helper. If you like it, invest deeply in a community college that can teach the right way to perform the job.
PHCPPros: Is there anything else from your personal life you'd like to highlight?
Pastor: I wish I started earlier, but, God ultimately gave me the opportunity to work in this trade. It feels great when you make things work that weren't working before, mechanically speaking. By using my hands and my brain, I can achieve amazing stuff. You can achieve unimaginable things if you start trying. You will fail, but keep trying, and at some point you will get it.
