Effective Jan. 1, 2024, Jim Simas became president of Emerson Swan, succeeding his brother George, who will continue in his role as president of the Swan Group.
This marks the start of an exciting new chapter in Emerson Swan’s history. Jim has been with Emerson Swan for over 30 years and has been an integral part of the company’s significant growth. His path to the presidency and approach to business represents everything upon which Emerson Swan and the Swan family pride themselves.
Jim’s career started in the warehouse, where he developed a deep appreciation for the critical importance of getting product out the door and on-time to our customers. He next spent time crafting his technical product knowledge in the inside sales group, before transitioning to outside sales where he subsequently has had ever-expanding sales management responsibilities, most recently serving as senior vice president of sales, with all regional managers reporting to him. In 2020, Jim also became a member of the Swan Group senior management team as vice president of strategy.
The reasons behind Jim’s success are many-fold. He is an incredible salesperson, deeply technical, strategic-minded, and forward-thinking, and he understands the needs of stakeholders in any situation. But the most essential component (and core part of who Jim is as a person) is that he cares about people. He cares about his customers, he cares about his vendors, and he cares about all of the Emerson Swan associates with whom he works. Jim is always seeking out the “win-win-wins” and finding successes for those around him. As a 3rd generation family business, we couldn’t be more excited and grateful to have the torch of Emerson Swan leadership be passed to such a capable and compassionate leader and family man.
While he will not be going far, George will be stepping away from the day-to-day responsibilities of Emerson Swan, but he will remain closely connected to Emerson Swan through his continued role as president of the Swan Group.
Please join the company in congratulating Jim on his new role and expressing our heartfelt thanks to George for his incredible leadership over the past 11 years. The company looks forward to the exciting journey ahead and the next storied chapter of Emerson Swan leadership under Jim as we head towards 100 years in business.
