In September 2023, Gerber Plumbing, a Globe Union company, held its first Gerber University event since 2019, catering exclusively to members of the Luxury Product Group (LPG). This event, lasting a day and a half, provided LPG members a chance to delve into Gerber’s history, product line, manufacturing processes, and to meet the team that helps drive success in the wholesale market.
Carmen Fiordirosa, president of Globe Union North America, greeted attendees and expressed her enthusiasm about the event’s revival. She announced, “This is our first Gerber University since 2019, and we are excited you are joining us here today! We have put together a new curriculum, and know you will find new takeaways about Gerber.”
Keynote Speaker Shane Ouyang, incoming CEO of Globe Union, a company founded by his father, presented a heartfelt narrative about the company’s origins and its enduring legacy. Ouyang underscored Globe Union’s unwavering dedication to customer satisfaction and detailed the foundation of quality and customer service established by his father—a legacy he is determined to uphold as he steps into leadership.
Ouyang underscored the importance Gerber has to its customers. “We believe in the quality of the products, so our customers and our users can set it and forget it,” he stated. “We design our products with our customers and users in mind, so our customers and users can realize the vision they have. And, we understand the value of service, and want you to be able to expect things to be uncomplicated. These are the things that we are standing upon. These are the values we are building upon.”
The first day of Gerber University shined a light on “Getting to know Gerber,” with informative sessions by the Gerber team on topics ranging from manufacturing to the company’s efforts in brand protection, particularly highlighting the “Gerber’s Got Your Back” initiative. The discussions reinforced Gerber’s commitment to customer service and satisfaction.
Mike Walleck, the U.S. director of sales, delivered a passionate presentation about Gerber’s heritage and its significance to customer relations. He voiced, “We are nothing without our relationships with our customers. We are here today to develop deeper meaningful relationships with you, and learn more about how we can partner moving forward for our mutual success.”
Day one also included an important regional meet and greet, where regional Gerber sales team members drove roundtable discussions, and underscored the importance of partnerships in action. The ease of accessibility to connect with Gerber and its team members, for the success of the customer, was evident.
Day two was held at Gerber’s renovated showroom and training space within its headquarters in Woodridge, IL. Gathering in the training room, team members highlighted the manufacturing process of its products, the quality demanded from its production, and the newest technologies and features incorporated into its products.
With the ability to view the full product line on display, attendees experienced the dedication and nuances the Gerber brand instills in products, and personally experienced the dedication to craft and customer service. Additionally, the group had fun in interactive sessions, such as a competition to install tank levers.
Gerber University did have a final quiz at the end of its event – and no need to grade on a curve – as attendees had fun learning about the company, and are able to translate its personality and commitment to success to its customers. The event wrapped up a festive group dinner and night out to see the Chicago Cubs play a ballgame at Wrigley Field.
