Intellihot, an innovative designer/manufacturer of built-environment systems that challenge legacy approaches for sustainability, recently released its 2023 Environmental Impact Report, an annual scorecard highlighting the progress the company's installed products are making towards its mission of a zero-waste future. The report is the company's second, indicating its unwavering commitment to disrupting the built environment with technology designed for a sustainable planet.
From its inception, Intellihot's raison d'etre has been to innovate and consistently improve tankless water heating technology to speed up its commercial adoption and remedy the energy waste caused by traditional boiler systems. Its recent introduction of the Electron series of tankless heat pump water heaters, the first such technology for commercial applications, is recent evidence of this push. The Electron combines the efficiency of heat pump technology, the water safety and on-demand features of tankless, with the compliance of CO2 refrigerant.
"Our products not only lead our battle against global warming, but also add significant value to our customers. They disrupt the industry, not people's lives," said founder and CEO, Sridhar (Sri) Deivasigamani. "The success of our hot water tank replacement business led to new-construction projects, which are now a significant portion of our work. The 2023 Environmental Impact Report shows we're not just selling a lot of units – we're making a difference for the planet."
Key takeaways from Intellihot's 2023 Environmental Impact Report include the following:
· 8.472 billion lbs. of CO2 emissions eliminated by Intellihot products and services, a 30% increase from 2021 and equivalent to the amount of CO2 emissions generated by 828,017 gas vehicles driven for a year;
· 1448.6 million therms of energy saved with Intellihot products and services;
· Intellihot has a goal of increasing the amount of CO2 emissions eliminated by 50% this year, due in large part to the installation of Electron units. Since the Electron's introduction in February, hundreds of units have been ordered nationwide for replacement and new construction projects, outpacing expectations – with each order representing the elimination of one or more natural gas water heaters from service.
With "Endless Progress" as the company's mantra, Intellihot is already working towards achieving (and surpassing) its target of 50% higher carbon emissions savings and looks forward to reporting the same next year.
