The Genesee County (N.Y.) Chamber of Commerce has honored Liberty Pumps as its “Business of the Year.”
“I love Genesee County, and while I’m involved in a lot of things, it’s more satisfying and has such a big impact when you’re honored by your small community,” Charlie Cook, president and CEO told The Daily News. “This is a significant honor for us.”
While the Bergen, N.Y. company is an international player in the pump market, it’s always been a local favorite since it was started by Cook’s uncle in 1965.
“While the export segment of the business is important to our growth, our local roots are part of our culture,” Cook told the newspaper. “We like to operate like a small company. We remain very community-minded and interested in the welfare of our employees.”
Liberty has undergone five expansions in three different locations – but all the sites are in Bergen, which is also Charlie’s hometown.
