F.W. Webb is thrilled to announce the completion of their new mural, painted by the legendary Bronx-based graffiti artists, Tats Cru, “The Mural Kings.”
As a world-famous art collective, Tats Cru’s reputation speaks for itself. They have created artwork for famed musicians like Nicki Minaj, Missy Elliott, Metallica, Fat Joe and the late Big Pun. Recognizable brands like Coca Cola, McDonald’s and Snapple, to name a few, have also contracted Tats Cru for projects.
The mural, painted along the exterior of the Bronx location, marks the second Tats Cru creation for Webb — joining the West Harlem mural, completed in summer 2021.
“Tats Cru was the obvious choice for this project,” said F.W. Webb’s CEO, Bob Mucciarone. “We felt our Bronx store was an ideally-suited location for a second mural to complement West Harlem. We couldn’t be happier with the finished product.“
Painted on a red backdrop, the 20’ tall by 154’ wide mural combines products with names and logos of Webb’s manufacturing partners. These manufacturers include AMTROL, BLUE MONSTER, Bradley, BrassCraft, Lochinvar, Milwaukee Tool, NIBCO, Victaulic and WATTS.
Products and brands aren’t the only focus of this mural, though.
The mural also displays “I ♡ the Bronx,” where the artwork inside each letter of “Bronx” depicts the borough’s rich culture and history.
Tats Cru previously created another ”I ♡ the Bronx” mural that gained widespread attention at the corner of Simpson Street and Westchester Avenue in the Foxhurst neighborhood of the Bronx — just a short walk from Webb’s location.
Incorporating that same vibe into Webb’s mural gives the piece greater visibility given its Southern Boulevard location, which fronts along local bus routes and has high pedestrian foot traffic. Thousands of eyes will view it on a daily basis.
For F.W. Webb’s mural, planning began towards the end of 2021. Once the design was finalized, Tats Cru commenced work on August 9 and completed the mural a little more than three weeks later.
“The Bronx has so much history, we felt this was a great way to pay homage to the community,” said James Turbide, F.W. Webb general manager. “The guys in Tats Cru grew up in the Bronx — so who better to capture the pulse of the neighborhood?”
Webb’s Bronx location is just over two miles from Yankee Stadium. The Yankees — with whom F.W. Webb is proud to partner — know a thing or two about homeruns. Tats Cru’s artistic prowess ensured this mural was just that.
