The Granite Group, a leading supplier of plumbing, heating, cooling, piping, water systems, and energy products in the Northeast, has announced that its TGG Cares Committee has raised $10,000 for New England Vocational Schools. The funds will be used to create multiple scholarships for individuals going into the plumbing and HVAC trades. This fundraising effort was part of a company-wide initiative culminating in a big final push at The Granite Group's Annual Meeting.
"What makes this initiative so special is that the entire company chipped in with donations of all sizes at our Annual Meeting to help us reach that $10,000 amount. And we are very excited to see the money going to schools that do such a wonderful job creating opportunities for young people looking to build a rewarding career in the Plumbing and HVAC trades!" said Monica Apgar, The Granite Group's people experience director, and chair of the TGG Cares Committee.
The $10,000 in scholarships will be spread out evenly among the following New England schools:
Maine: Capital Area Technical Center in Augusta, Maine
New Hampshire: The New Hampshire School of Mechanical Trades in Manchester, New Hampshire
Vermont: Vermont Technical College in Randolph Center, Vermont
Massachusetts: Greater Lowell Technical High School in Tyngsboro, Massachusetts
Connecticut: Norwich Tech in Norwich, Connecticut
Rhode Island: New England Tech in East Greenwich, Rhode Island
“The coolest part is our people did this on their own. They asked, ‘is there something we can do to give back to the communities that support us?’…and this is what they came up with. It’s just another great example of our people figuring out ways to go just a little bit above and beyond to see if they could help give back and support the communities that do so much for us,” said Bill Condron, The Granite Group’s CEO.
