In our September PHCP Millennial On The Move spotlight, we invite you to meet Chad Peterman, owner and president of Peterman Brothers!
PHCPPros: What is your role in the PHCP industry?
Peterman: I am currently the president of Peterman Brothers. I work most days to set the vision and the culture for the company moving forward. As my brother often reminds me, I get to dream it up, and he actually makes it happen!
PHCPPros: How and why did you decide to enter a career in the PHCP industry?
Peterman: My dad started our company in 1986, so I have been around it my whole life. I wasn’t immediately interested in working in the trades because I was intimidated by the work, which I wasn’t good at. It wasn’t until I got into the industry that I realized this isn’t a technical business, but rather a people-development business — which I absolutely love!
PHCPPros: What have been some of your career highlights so far?
Peterman: I have been very fortunate in my short career. One highlight is helping to establish our school for training in HVAC service, plumbing, HVAC install and electrical here at Peterman Brothers. The Peterman Top Tech Academy was started in 2020 and has trained just over 100 students in just two short years! Another highlight was winning the 2021 Bryant Dealer of the Year. This is an award that my dad had worked to achieve and to finally win, which I know meant a lot to him.
PHCPPros: Are you affiliated with any groups and organizations in the PHCP industry?
Peterman: We have been a Nexstar member since 2015. They have been instrumental in helping us grow and reach our goals as a company. They were also a huge influence in establishing the Peterman Top Tech Academy.
PHCPPros: Do you have any mentors in the PHCP industry or otherwise?
Peterman: Yes, I have been blessed to know several fantastic mentors. We would not be where we are today, and I would not be the leader I am today, without their influence. Most things that we do well as a company were the result of learning from others.
PHCPPros: Do you consider yourself a mentor?
Peterman: Absolutely. Because I have learned so much over the years from people willing to share, I try to give back whenever I can; it is extremely important to me. We host onsite tours of our facility every quarter where we welcome other companies in to learn and share with each other.
PHCPPros: What does it mean for you to be featured as a PHCP Millennial on The Move?
Peterman: It is a fantastic honor. As a millennial, it is really becoming our time to shine in this fantastic industry. We must learn from the past and work to leave our industry in a better place. I hope to do my part and help as many people along the way as possible.
