The National Institute of Building Sciences has annoynced the departure of President and CEO Lakisha Woods, CAE, effective Jan. 7, 2022.
"Since 2018, Lakisha successfully led NIBS through a transformational period and during the challenges of the pandemic," said Board Chair Anne Ellis, P.E., Hon.M.ACI, F.ASCE, M.NAC. "Lakisha leaves NIBS in a very strong position for continued growth and societal impact. The board and I are deeply grateful for all that she and the NIBS staff collectively have accomplished."
Woods said it has been an honor to serve the members and community of NIBS over the past three years.
"Through the support of our board, our team has transformed the organizations programs and services and reestablished ourselves as the conveners for the built environment," Woods said. "I am grateful for the support of our members and agency partners, who put their faith in me and my team to continue to advance the industry and set the national agenda for the built environment. We have set the organization on strong financial footing and innovated our technology to support the needs of our partners and programs. I am confident that thanks to the terrific staff team and brilliant board, NIBS is positioned for continued success. I am thankful for the opportunity to have served as NIBS' leader and to have navigated the organization through the global challenges over the past three years. Thank you!"
Woods will continue to work with the board to ensure that the important projects the organization currently is conducting are seamlessly executed, including providing guidance and support to the board while it transitions to new leadership.
The board is establishing a transition strategy and a Board-driven committee to commence a search with the assistance of an executive search firm.
