State Water Heaters announced the winner of a $2,500 scholarship for students pursuing plumbing-heating-cooling related studies.
The Plumbing, Heating, Cooling Contractors (PHCC) Educational Foundation administers the scholarship program and is responsible for selecting the award winner.
The scholarship program is designed to attract the new talent essential to the future of the plumbing and HVACR industry.
The 2016 State Water Heaters Scholarship Award recipient is Timothy Golden from Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Golden is currently enrolled in a plumbing VOTECH program at Norfolk Technical Vocational School.
“I need to keep learning and school is one of two best ways to learn this field,” said Golden. “The other is on-the-job training that I believe goes hand-in-hand with school and a hard work ethic.”
Golden currently works for Atomic Plumbing, Heating and Electrical Corp. in Virginia Beach.
“We’re thrilled to assist young people who are interested and passionate about the Plumbing and HVAC industry,” said Jeff Storie, director of marketing for State Water Heaters. “Because these students will eventually be installing our products one day, we enjoy being involved and helping students that will soon become industry professionals.”
To qualify for a PHCC Educational Foundation scholarship, students must submit a detailed application, including a letter of recommendation from an active member of the PHCC National Association and enroll in a plumbing-heating-cooling related course of study or apprentice program such as business management, construction management or science specializing in mechanical construction or mechanical engineering.
Students interested in pursuing a career in the plumbing or HVACR professions are invited to visit phccfoundation.org for information on 2016 scholarships.
