Tammy Mae Powles, 45, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, passed away unexpectedly in a plane crash on Monday, March 23. Tammy was a residential regional sales manager for Elkay Mfg. Co.
Tammy was born on March 24, 1974, in Charlotte, North Carolina. She is survived by her parents, David G. Powles of Waxhaw, North Carolina, and Gail A. Orman of Monroe, North Carolina; two sisters, Amy P. Farmer (Donnie) and Deborah P. Splawn (Sonny), both of Waxhaw, North Carolina; two nieces, Tiffany P. Saunders of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Amber N. Gordon of Monroe, North Carolina; one nephew, Zachary D. Farmer of Waxhaw, North Carolina; two bonus nieces, Amanda (Mandy) F. Helms and Melissa F. Phifer; two bonus nephews, Donnie R. Farmer III and Daniel L. Farmer; one aunt, Beverly Armstrong of Wellsville, New York; one uncle, Richard G. Orman (Mary) of West Palm Gardens, Florida; and nine cousins. Tammy was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Fredrick and Ruth Powles; maternal grandparents, Walter and Lois Orman; and her aunt Joanie Strassner.
Tammy graduated from the Art Institute of Charlotte in 2001 with an associate degree in interior design. She worked in the plumbing industry for many years and was well known in the field. She loved her family dearly and was a loyal friend to many. Tammy was full of life and touched many people with her kindness. She was witty with an infectious smile. Tammy will be dearly missed.
The service will be private. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later day. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to a favorite charity.
