The Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors—National Association (PHCC) leadership and staff, including the board of directors and the government relations committee, have been monitoring the situation around the country regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.
Unfortunately, the safety risks posed to guests, strong recommendations from public health authorities suggesting gatherings be limited to 10 people or less, the Trump administration’s estimate that the pandemic could extend into the summer, and short-term economic uncertainty leaves the association with little choice but to cancel this year’s May 19-20 Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C. This decision was made with heavy hearts and in the best interests and safety of PHCC membership.
Those who have already made arrangements to attend the conference will be fully refunded for their hotel and registration fees.
Even during times like this, Legislative Day is every day for PHCC. PHCC staff continues to monitor legislation and keep lines of communication open with policymakers on Capitol Hill. When this pandemic subsides, the association encourages industry members to meet with federal representatives in their home districts; the PHCC Government Affairs team is happy to help plan this outreach.
PHCC is available to assist with any needs that may arise from this cancellation. Contact PHCC Director of Legislative Affairs Mark Valentini at valentini@naphcc.org with any questions or concerns. PHCC will be back in touch with plans for the next in-person Legislative Conference, scheduled for May 2021. In the meantime, the PHCC Advocate newsletter and PHCC social media channels will have the latest news about advocacy efforts.
