AB&I Foundry (AB&I) is extremely active in supporting numerous projects that benefit the community of Oakland, California. AB&I team members continuously provide countless volunteer hours at local schools, libraries, and the food bank. The company has spearheaded programs such as a large-scale neighborhood cleanup in East Oakland and the Elmhurst Creek. Recently, AB&I and its team members helped to transform a blighted street in Oakland by planting nearly 100 trees. This beautification process will improve the air quality, increase cooling, slow traffic, and deter illegal dumping in the neighborhood.
“Planting trees in a city will pay off in dividends,” said Zeydi Gutierrez, director of community relations at AB&I. “Trees will transform our community in addition to bridging the gap by connecting natural resources to urban areas. People will be able to reap the benefits from trees which provide shade, remove air pollutants, reduce stormwater runoff and provide aesthetic benefits.”
