Rochester, N.Y. – A plumbing contractor working at Golisano Children's Hospital has died from injuries suffered in a workplace accident, according to a statement from the University of Rochester. The worker was employed by Davis-Ulmer Sprinkler Co., but has not been identified. A statement from the company said the victim, who died Wednesday morning, was “a long-time employee.” The worker is believed to have died from injuries suffered when struck by a metal pipe fitting on Tuesday morning. The statement from the university said it was initially believed that the contractor's death was the result of a medical issue suffered while on the job. The incident is under investigation by Davis-Ulmer officials and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration also will assess the scene, the company said.
