American Airlines has increased safety precautions after low levels of the bacteria that causes Legionnaires’ disease were found in water at four maintenance hangers at the Dallas-Ft Worth Airport.
Bacteria was discovered at the hangars after a worker showed symptoms of Legionnaires’ disease, but recovered.
Fort Worth-based American, in a letter last week to workers, said low levels of the bacteria were found in water from eight shower heads, plus water from some faucets and fountains.
American spokesman Matt Miller says the facilities are safe. The showers and faucets now have filters.
