SPX Cooling Technologies Inc., a full-line, full-service industry leader in the design and manufacture of evaporative cooling systems and air-cooled heat exchangers, held its annual charity golf tournament on Thursday, May 19, raising over $65,000 for two organizations: Literacy KC, a Kansas City-based community for adults and families to improve literacy skills and enhance quality of life, and the Kansas City Professional Chapter of Engineers without Borders USA (EWB-USA), a nonprofit organization that builds a better world through engineering projects that empower communities.
The golf tournament, at Sycamore Ridge Golf Course in Spring Hill, Kansas, included 140 golfers and dozens of volunteers from SPX Cooling, Literacy KC, and EWB-USA.
SPX employees, suppliers, sales representatives and supporters played an 18-hole "scramble-style" tournament. Additional challenges were available throughout the course, such as longest drive, longest putt, closest to the pin and other mini-games. A silent auction and raffle following the tournament added to the event donations.
"The tournament was a great success and we owe that to our generous sponsors, participants and volunteers for helping make it happen," commented Ankush Kumar, president, SPX Global Cooling. "Without them we wouldn't have been able to raise the money we did for these well-deserving organizations."
One hundred percent of the net proceeds from the tournament will be shared by Literacy KC and EWB-USA.
"We are honored to present these proceeds to two entities that will use the funds to make a difference locally and around the world," Kumar added. "We look forward to working more with Literacy KC and Engineers without Borders in the future to raise awareness and help them meet their goals."
SPX Cooling Technologies began holding the annual charity golf tournament in 2014 and has since contributed more than $300,000 to a variety of non-profit organizations. The 2022 tournament is the first since 2019, and coincides with the centennial of the Marley brand.
Supporters of the event included suppliers and sales representatives who contributed by sponsoring golf holes as well as breakfast and lunch during the event. Centennial Sponsors were Dayco Industries and Metals USA; the L.T. Mart Sponsor was Mountain Home Manufacturing; Marley Sponsors were Infinity Fasteners Inc., Insight Partners LLC, IPEX Inc., Klockner Pentaplast, Moore Fans, Premier Equipment Corp. Inc., Varitec Solutions and WEG; Breakfast Sponsors included AquaAir and Supply Technologies LLC; Lunch Sponsors included CMS and Dyna-Tech; and the 1922 Sponsor was JASCKO Corp.
