The Canadian Institute of Plumbing & Heating (CIPH) congratulates Dave Hughes, hydronic certification program instructor, NAIT, for being awarded the Canadian Hydronics Council (CHC) 2020 Award of Merit on June 23 at CHC's Annual Meeting.
The CHC Award of Merit recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to the advancement of the hydronics industry in Canada. The Award of Merit is one of the hydronics industry’s highest honors.
Hughes is a graduate of the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Vocational Education, majoring in instructional media design and instructional technology. He is a second-generation plumber and educator having followed both parents into their respective fields. Hughes is a journeyman plumber, gasfitter (Class A), steamfitter/pipefitter and is currently in his 28th year with NAIT.
In addition to his regular duties at NAIT and drawing on his background, Hughes worked to facilitate the construction and implementation of the Hydronic Designer and Hydronic Installer certification programs for the Canadian Hydronics Council. Active in the industry through his involvement with many organizations, Hughes is currently the chair of the Plumbing Sub-Council for the Alberta Safety Codes Council, chair of the Canadian Hydronics Council, and former vice chair of the CSA B214 Technical Committee. He also participates in the regional CIPH and MCA activities.
CIPH thanks Hughes for his contributions and continued support of the industry.
