The United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry is planning another joint effort with Plumbing Manufacturers International as a follow-up to the highly successful Jan 30 event to help the residents of Flint, Mich.
On Saturday, May 21, UA plumbers will be installing 1,000 shower filters and more faucets.
Thanks to the generosity of PMI member companies, the UA already has the faucets they will need to get this done. However, they anticipate many of the showerheads will need to be replaced in order to accommodate the filters.
The UA is currently requesting showerheads to be donated for this effort. Materials are requested to be delivered no later than May 20, 2016 to: UA Charitable Fund Trust, c/o Local Union 370, 5500 W. Pierson Road., Flushing, MI 48433.
Showerheads need to be 2.5 gpm (or less) and fit the outlet of the filter, which has a standard ½-inch connection. Threads on the showerhead cannot be recessed too far or the showerhead will bottom out on the filter before it seals. Please contact the UA directly with questions regarding specifications: 810-720-5243.
Donations can be handled through PMI's Jodi Stuhrberg at jstuhrberg@safeplumbing.org.
