RPA Announces Education Track at CONNECT 2019
The Radiant Professionals Alliance is joining PHCC's CONNECT 2019 Conference and Exhibition in Indianapolis, Indiana, Oct, 2-4, and will host a radiant/hydronics education track
Here is a preview of the courses being offered on Oct. 2. You can download a conference registration form here.
Radiant Heating Do's and Don'ts | 9:30 a.m.
Steve Swanson, National Trainer at Uponor
Want to know what makes a radiant heating system work terrific? Join us to examine some of the work done by hacks that leave a terrible taste for radiant in the minds of customers as well as some work done by real professionals that leave customers smiling and comfortable. This is a real skill-building course that will give you real tools to keep you on course for a professional installation.
Benefits of Manifold Flow Meters in Modern Design | 10:30 a.m.
Bill Werthman, Hydronics Business Development Manager West at Legend Valve
This seminar will explore the design options that manifold flow meters make possible by controlling output through precise flow delivery to radiant panels.
Maximizing System & Pump Efficiency of Hydronic Systems with Air/Dirt Separation | 11:30 a.m.
Dino Pioli, Regional Sales Manager - Northeast at Spirotherm
Air and dirt in a hydronic system have negative effects and diminish the system's efficiency. Learn how to maximize system & pump performance in a hydronic system by utilizing air and dirt separators.
The BEST Way to Compare HVAC Systems in the Early Project Design Phase | 1 p.m.
Greg Cunniff, Director of Applied Solutions at Williams Comfort Products
The Building Efficiency System Tool (BEST) tool software was designed to help prospective buyers, consulting engineers, and design/build professionals analyze real-world HVAC options to pinpoint the best system that meets budgetary and performance requirements. BEST solves the challenge of accurately comparing different styles of HVAC systems early in the design process by bringing EER, IEER, SEER, and COP data together to compare the performance, life cycles, and costs for any type of HVAC system, apples to apples. It is a significant time-saver.
Plastic Piping Systems for Geothermal / Geoexchange | 2 p.m.
Lance MacNevin, Director of Engineering at Plastics Pipe Institute
Plastic piping materials used for geothermal ground loop piping must provide corrosion & chemical resistance, flexibility, impact resistance, and long-term hydrostatic strength (pressure capability). Piping materials must withstand wide swings in operating temperature, and are expected to perform in buried environments for decades. Only a few materials are qualified for ground loop piping, and this presentation will describe the types of HDPE, PEX, PE-RT and PP which are recommended. Design techniques and multiple installation methods will be explained. Finally, the latest industry standards will be introduced, as well as future changes to mechanical codes that affect geothermal systems.
Radiant System Design — Best Practices | 3 p.m.
Bo DeAngelo, Manager, Technical Training at Viega
Radiant heating systems are forgiving enough to be dangerous, which is why good design strategies are paramount to delivering the comfort and efficiency that radiant offers. In this workshop you will learn key design strategies that will ensure your radiant system will deliver as promised. Learn the best approach to projects based on building type, the best design temperature differences, tubing layouts that install fast and perform well, zoning strategies that ensure maximum comfort and efficiency, and control strategies that maximize your physical plant.
