ASA PAC Releases Final Report for 2018 Elections

December 7, 2018

The ASA Advocacy Team worked hard this campaign season to raise the presence of ASA and the ASA Political Action Committee (ASA PAC). The ASA PAC contributed to 15 candidates’ election campaigns. The following candidates were elected to serve upcoming terms in the U.S. House or Senate:

Senate

  1. Senator Elect Rick Scott (R-FL)
  2. Senator Elect Kevin Cramer (R-ND-A/L)
  3. Senator Elect Masha Blackburn (R-TN-7)
  4. State AG Josh Hawley (R-MO)

House

  1. Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA-3)
  2. Rep. Elect Pete Stauber (R-MN-8)
  3. Rep. Bradley Byrne (R-AL-1)
  4. Rep. Mark Amodei (R-NV-2)
  5. Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX-28)

“The ASA PAC has been doing things this election cycle! The PAC is crucial to ASA’s voice on The Hill and in D.C.," said Catherine Treadwell, J.D., ASA director of government affairs. "It helps cultivate long lasting relationships between ASA and Congress. The ASA PAC makes it possible for ASA to help get pro-business officials elected and whose views directly align with that of ASA’s.”

The ASA PAC-supported candidates hold critical positions on House and Senate committees covering areas critical to the long term success of the plumbing, HVAC and industrial piping marketplaces, including:

  • House Committee on Energy and Commerce - Subcommittees on communications and technology, energy, environment, digital commerce and consumer protection; and oversight and investigations.

  • House Ways and Means Committee - Subcommittees on health, Social Security, and trade

  • House Appropriations Committee

  • House Armed Service Committee

  • House Education and Workforce Committee

  • Senate Energy and Natural Resource Committee

  • Senate Foreign Relations Committee

“I could not be prouder of the team, they were out there shaking hands and making connections with important individuals in the political arena," said ASA VP of Advocacy Jim Kendzel. "In addition to supporting a strong candidate list, the ASA Team was able to engage in conversations with highly influential and renowned individuals such as Senator Mark Rubio (R-FL) and the Secretary of Transportation, Elaine Choa, covering topics such as workforce development and the transportation and trucking issues ASA members are currently facing while making.”

The contributions that ASA members make to the ASA PAC provide great opportunity for ASA to provide financial contributions to those candidates that support the mission and values of ASA.
