PHCC Contractors Invited to White House For Economic Summit on Small Business Issues

Contractors from the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors National Association participated in an economic summit at the White House Sept. 27 to discuss the state of the economy and its impact on small business.

The briefing highlighted the positive results of the administration’s focus on tax reform, regulatory relief, infrastructure spending, workforce development and more.

Five PHCC representatives were among the small business representatives who attended the event:

• PHCC President Laurie Crigler, owner and vice president of L&D Associates, Aroda, Virginia;
• PHCC President-elect Ken Nielsen, owner and president of AccuAire, Inc., North Reading, Massachusetts;
• PHCC Secretary-elect Joel Long, commercial division owner and president, GSM Services, Gastonia, North Carolina;
• PHCC Member Dan Foley, owner and president of Foley Mechanical, Lorton, Virginia; and
• PHCC Executive Vice President Michael Copp, Falls Church, Virginia.

The delegation of small business representatives were invited to hear a series of panelists share stories of how pro-business measures supported by the administration are benefiting a diverse range of organizations.  Issues of particular interest to PHCC are the pro-business tax reform package; increased infrastructure spending; changes in the regulatory atmosphere; and increased focus on workforce development.

“PHCC was very pleased to participate in this latest of a series of meetings we’ve had at the White House,” says PHCC President Laurie Crigler. “We welcome this opportunity to share how a pro-business environment is helping small businesses across America. It also was a perfect forum to reinforce our positions about the need for skilled workers in our industry, the benefits of tax reform, and the importance of including water and sewage systems as part of the infrastructure investment.”
