ASPE Announces Derreck Kayongo as the 2018 ASPE Convention & Expo Keynote Speaker
The American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE) is pleased to announce that global human rights activist Derreck Kayongo will be presenting the keynote address at the 2018 ASPE Convention & Expo in Atlanta. The keynote address will be part of the ASPE Breakfast Award Ceremony on October 1 prior to the beginning of the Expo.
Derreck is the founder of the Global Soap Project, which recycles used hotel soap and redistributes it to impoverished populations around the world. In creating this global humanitarian initiative, he demonstrated that a simple, yet novel idea has the power to transform the lives of millions. A Top 10 CNN Hero in 2011, his passion for helping others and commitment to innovative thinking earned him his role as CEO of the National Center for Civil and Human Rights in 2014, where he served until March 2018.
From Ugandan refugee to successful entrepreneur, Derreck shares his vision for harnessing the power of observation to identify issues and solve challenges in any community or organization. Based on his personal guiding principles, coined as S.E.L.F. (Service, Education, Leadership, and Faith), his keynote address will inspire a spirit of entrepreneurialism and creative problem-solving. Afterward, 2018 ASPE Convention & Expo attendees will be motivated to invent their own self-made motto of success to create tangible change in the world.
