Lawsuit seeks removal of lead pipe in Chicago​

A lawsuit filed Feb. 18 accuses the city of Chicago of failing to adequately warn residents how lead piping can leach lead into tap water after street repairs. The suit calls for the city to remove lead piping that connect homes to the city’s water supply.

The lawsuit is the latest example of litigation prompted by worldwide attention to the crisis in Flint, Mich., where state and local officials exposed thousands of residents to lead by failing to adequately maintain the public water system.
