Show Us Your Truck

No matter the vehicle our readers never disappoint when we ask them to share information and pictures of their service vehicles.

October 12, 2023

Once again, we asked our readers to tell us about their trucks, which could be a “truck,” but also vans and at least one trailer this year. We’ve been doing this for a few years now, and we always look forward to seeing a new batch each year.

Joruelyn Ballesteros
Any Hour Electric, Plumbing, Heating & Air
Orem, Utah

“We have 300 trucks helping homeowners in an 80-mile radius out of Salt Lake City. With so many techs covering so much ground, the bright red and yellow are easy to see and remember.

“We have a strict maintenance schedule that helps keep each truck looking its best.

“On top of that, our techs have all the parts they need for an average day’s work, plus a few things that you won’t usually find. That way we can help our customers the instant we diagnose a problem, without needing a return trip.

“At the end of each day, our night ops crew restocks each truck to cut down on wait times even more. With more than 60 years of testing, Any Hour Service trucks are designed (inside and out) to serve and impress Utah homeowners.”

“The train logo started out as an idea when I wanted to use “Express” in my company name. I worked with an artist to refine it to my liking and bought the design and the rights to it.

“All this must have happened about 15 years ago, and I never got to use it because life went in a different direction for me then. After working in management and managing a couple of plumbing operations, the company I last worked for was bought out by private equity.

“I took some time off to relax and enjoy life, but quickly got bored. I went through many interviews for another plumbing manager’s role, and I just didn’t feel like I found a good fit.

“After talking with my wife and telling her that I wanted to start my own company (besides, I was licensed in two different states) and that I planned to join a best practice group and put a business plan together.

“I started looking for a new van that would fit my needs, and I could not find any. What I did have was a new truck so I thought I’d start out with an enclosed trailer and set it up just like I would a van.

“I purchased the trailer and took it on an eight-hour drive to the original signage company I worked with all those years ago to have it wrapped.

“Arthur’s Plumbing Express is a family-owned and operated plumbing company. Led by a second-generation plumber that has been providing customers with high-quality workmanship and unparalleled customer service for more than 35 years. It is our top goal to continue my family’s legacy of offering the best plumbing services in the region.”

Needham, Massachusetts

“My father Carl started the business in 1976 as a third-generation plumber, first-time business owner in Newton, Massachusetts. He comes from a long line of plumbers in his family, including brothers and sisters as well as cousins and nephews. To this day, Carl has been the only one to answer the phone, which our customers say it is one of the greatest qualities about us.

“In the 1980s and 1990s, my father‘s business grew to approximately 25 employees focusing on residential service, commercial and industrial work. And they consistently worked on a lot of the schools, hotels and municipal buildings. In the late-1990s, we moved to Needham, and Carl began to scale back the company to focus primarily on plumbing and heating service in the residential and light commercial aspects.

“With a smaller crew, we are able to primarily focus on providing a more affordable, professional plumbing and heating services to the members of our communities.

“I began working for the company in 2012 as a plumbing apprentice, and after the five-year apprenticeship I passed my journeyman plumbing test. Two years later, I became a master plumber and became a fourth-generation master plumber in our family tree.

“With a few employees focusing on service work, over the past few years, I have begun to focus on high-efficiency heating systems. We are one of the only factory trained companies in our area that provide service on high-efficiency heating systems.”

Robin Cody
Cody & Sons Plumbing, Heating & Air
Dallas, Texas

“At Cody & Sons, we understand that our brand’s image reflects a lot about us. Our truck wrap isn’t just an advertisement—it’s an embodiment of our commitment to our reliability, respect and integrity. It took months and multiple redesigns between the CEO, Randy Cody, and the designer we selected out of multiple bids to redesign our truck.

“The transformation was dramatic. Previously, our trucks bore a classic, simple design—a testament to our traditional values. Taking a leap into a bold and innovative look was challenging. But after multiple redesigns and a great deal of collaboration, we achieved a truck wrap that brilliantly marries our classic logo with the contemporary.

“The vibrant colors ensure our trucks are instantly recognizable on the road, while the design intricacies echo our attention to detail in every service we offer.”

“Cody & Sons has been a trusted name in Dallas since its founding by Bill Cody in 1969. We developed a founder logo using his picture that is also included in the design as a tribute. It’s a little hard to see in the picture, but that’s Bill in the upper righthand corner in the back of the truck. This truck wrap tells a story of our evolution of how we honor our past while embracing the future—a blend of tradition, innovation and unparalleled service.

“Our new Flo-Rite Plumbing And Well Service truck was designed to showcase that we offer services beyond traditional plumbing services, such as excavation, well maintenance and innovative water solutions. It demonstrates the company’s versatility and commitment to meeting various customer needs.

“We’ve been around since 2015 with my husband Kevin and were running calls every day together out of one naked white van!

“We always stayed small because we were scared to grow and “hand over our baby” until God decided to send us a new baby boy and grandson within six months’ time. So now this momma is home and ready to grow!”

“Each state-of-the-art truck in the Harts fleet is outfitted with the most up-to-date and sustainable tools for every job. Each truck also has the company’s motto, “We Care More,” proudly displayed on the side.

“The motto serves as a visible reminder to the community of Harts’ commitment to serving customers with respect and honesty. And it’s a reminder to the Harts team of their commitment to helping their friends and neighbors stay safe and comfortable while providing value and quality.

“Harts Services was founded in Tacoma, Washington, in 2013, with a mission to deliver high-quality commercial and residential plumbing and electrical service throughout the area.

“Harts shows that they care more with a range of programs, including Hometown Heroes, a partnership with the Tacoma Rainiers AAA baseball team and the Wounded Warrior Project that honors active military personnel and veterans every summer. Harts also offers Harts Academy, a paid apprentice program that is developing a new generation of skilled trades workers.”

J.J. Kokesh & Son Plumbing & Supplies
Ballwin, Missouri

Kokesh Truck.jpg

“We think our trucks stand out in the field. Customers call us just based on the fact that we are the plumbers with the flowers in the toilets!

“There’s an interesting story behind the flowers in the toilet. The owner’s grandmother Helen Kokesh decided to put flowers in a toilet as outdoor decoration for the shop. The tradition passed down to the owner’s father, Larry Kokesh, who brought it to our former shop in Manchester, Missouri.

“City officials in Manchester had an issue with the toilet planters, saying that they were examples of outdoor storage of merchandise and that J.J. Kokesh & Son was in violation of city ordinance. The city of sued Larry over the toilet planters, but he was ultimately victorious and the toilet planters remain in front of J.J. Kokesh & Son to this day.

“We decided that they also should be on the truck, which makes for a very remarkable and interesting visual as they go down the streets of Saint Louis.”

Meticulous Plumbing
Portland, Oregon

2014 Box Truck.jpg

“Meticulous Plumbing was founded by Leo Borton and Meg Willison-Borton in 2009. Our company is based on Leo’s 30-plus years of experience in the plumbing field, and Meg’s decades of experience in the office setting.

“The foundation laid from experience in these fields has helped guide our company to provide some of the best plumbing services available today, and the best customer service around.

“Being meticulous is important to us in every aspect. While our plumbing services and our customer services are our main priorities, we also want our presentation to be meticulous as well.

“We believe our trucks are the face of our company, so we schedule weekly fleet wash sessions where each truck gets washed by a professional truck washing company. Our office manager works very diligently to make sure each truck is up and running by scheduling both preventative and routine maintenance. And we have our techs fill out truck health check forms so that they report any issues that need to be taken care of right away by our mobile fleet mechanic.

“Keeping healthy trucks with our meticulous looks, has success written all over it!

“Equally as important to Leo and Meg was the goal of creating a fair and safe company to work for, a company they themselves would want to work for, and we are proud to be exactly the company they set out for us to be. With having vast experience in plumbing and the broad spectrum of customer service and office experience, along with dedication to make a safe and desirable environment for employees, these two experts have come together to mold our company into what we are today.”

“We wanted red, white and blue as the vehicle colors. Each time we added more red to the planning of our vehicles, however, we realized we preferred more blue than red. The circular logos came out of necessity, as our customer base insisted we provide more services than just plumbing. The subsequent logos followed the same shape as the primary logo. We wanted the business offerings summarized for a quick read as we pass by.

“We were worried that it would be confusing to our customer base being multi-trade using the division as the highlighted name on the vehicles, but it has turned out to be just the opposite. We track the referral source with each customer, and a surprisingly high percentage of customers state they found us by seeing one of our trucks.”

“We are a medium-sized plumbing, HVAC and electrical company and have been in business since 1966. We are located in the Los Angeles area and have thousands of clients that we service and maintain around Southern California. Our trucks and the way they are presented have always been a major marketing tool for us! It never surprises me when we get calls from people saying, “We saw your truck driving around our neighborhood.” We’ve been doing this for years with truck decals and wraps. This is our fourth-generation design.”

Plomero en Phoenix
Phoenix, Arizona

“As someone deeply committed to providing top-notch plumbing services to our community, our truck embodies the dedication and quality we bring to our work daily. It’s not just a vehicle; it’s a rolling symbol of our mission to guarantee homes are free from plumbing issues, offering peace of mind to our customers.

“Back in 2011, armed with determination and a desire to provide exceptional plumbing services, I started this journey with a 19-year-old Toyota Tacoma. That humble beginning led us to where we are now – with three service vans, ready to tackle any challenge. Our journey wasn’t just about plumbing; it was about making a positive impact.

“Being family-owned, we understood trust and reliability’s importance. I, along with my family, embraced the values guiding us today. Our goal wasn’t just business; it was to be a support for the community that embraced us.

“Helping our community became our driving force. From late-night repairs to assisting elderly neighbors, our reputation grew because of genuine care in every job. People saw us as more than plumbers; we were reliable friends.

“As years passed, we’ve grown, but our values stay unchanged. Plomero en Phoenix isn’t just a name; it’s dedication to our community, a commitment to be there when it matters most. Our story is of passion, family and the impact a small business can have.”

“Our clean white van design represents the white glove treatment and allows us to display our business information and services. With our technicians dressed in white shirts, it gives customers a good feeling and establishes their trust in us.

“The clean green stripe accent represents not only our company brand, but to go green as well. We enjoy educating our customers on ways they can improve their carbon and energy footprint to not only save them money in the long run, but they also are doing a small portion of giving back to the earth.

“We strive to exceed all customer expectations and our technicians treat every home like it’s their own.

Jim Yerkie
Yerkie Heating and Air
Clayton, Delaware

“Our company has been doing heating and A/C service and installs since 1988. While we’ve had many different style trucks, none compare to what we use now.

“We’ve tried for years to create a more user-friendly service truck. About eight years ago, we were installing at an ambulance ordering company. Looking at the vehicles they had there, I was amazed at all the cabinetry, the lit utility bins on the outside and with room inside for a computer and printer.

“These trucks are definitely set up for a service and installation work. No need for ladder racks since they fit in the side bins out of the way. Onboard inverters for electric, rear heat and air conditioning, which comes awful handy for lunchtime. No more eating on the steering wheel. Not to mention the outside lighting with flood lights and safety lights.

The cost of a new truck is out of reach as a service truck. However, most ambulance companies will put these into service for five or six years and then replace them for new vehicles. So having a vehicle with 50,000 miles on it that’s been exceptionally maintained is so worth it. I bought each one we have cheaper than a cargo van.”
