Pennsylvania plumbing company faces $41,000 OSHA over trench collapse

April 18, 2016

OSHA is fining a Middletown, Pa., company $41,000 for failing to protect employees during a trench collapse in September.

According to OSHA, the trench's sidewall collapsed, trapping an employee of Williamson Plumbing and Heating, doing businesses as Roto-Rooter.

Williamson was cited for (among other things) failing to keep excavated materials at least two feet from the trench's edge, and failing to construct the trench in accordance for allowable slopes and configurations.
