Milwaukee Tool Unveils MX FUEL Line

Milwaukee Tool cut the cord even more with the release of six light commercial tools designed to use the manufacturer’s new power system, MX FUEL.

This cordless system delivers performance, run-time, and durability without the hazards associated with emissions, noise and vibration not to mention the frustrations of tripped breakers, voltage drops, and downtime due to gas engine maintenance.

Each of the solutions on the MX FUEL System operates off one completely compatible system.

But the advancements made in this latest line goes beyond just a “bigger” battery.

“MX FUEL represents big advancements is batteries, motors and electronics,” says Brian Alves, group product manager. “The electronics, for example, had to deliver not just high power, but high power and high duration.”

Here’s more on what Alves means for the three major components that comprise the MX FUEL System:

• POWERSTATE Brushless Motor: MX FUEL will feature the largest and most advanced motors Milwaukee has developed to date. This added size allows each motor to hold more copper and more rare earth magnets, translating to increased power. The motor and fan are also optimized to pull efficient airflow across the system to drive the level of cooling necessary.
• REDLINK PLUS Intelligence and Hardware: MX FUEL pushes into a new realm of electronics design due to the extremely high power levels each product needs to maintain. Each of the individual electronics components are optimized to manage and maintain this power and the heat it generates, and drive better communication between the motor and battery.
• REDLITHIUM Battery Packs: The MX FUEL REDLITHIUM Battery Packs will use the best cell structure, electronics and pack construction. As with the company’s M12 and M18 systems, all batteries will be compatible to ensure MX FUEL can deliver on the immediate and long-term compatibility with the dedicated platform.

Sewer Drum Machine

The MX Fuel products themselves also feature big benefits beyond just “no cord.”

For example, take a look at the MX FUEL Sewer Drum Machine, which features POWERTREDZ Lift Assist technology, essentially a set of tank-like treads positioned behind each side of the machine that power the 200-pound unit easily up and down stairs.

Alves and Kathleen Keegan, product manager, gave us an advanced look earlier this summer of all the MX FUEL products at a warehouse nearby Milwaukee Tool’s Brookfield, Wisconsin headquarters.

“One of the biggest frustrations we heard from drain-cleaning contractors was the difficulty of transporting a heavy drum machine,” she explains. “What happens often is that a second person will have to go to the jobsite just to help transport the machine.”

Besides the treads, the new drum machine features better ways to control the cable such as an integrated drum brake. An enclosed drum also makes clean up after the job less of a chore.

“This is the first solution that allows for one-person transportation,” Keegan says, “and it has the power to clear roots at 200 feet.”

Each drum holds up to 100-feet of cable, and two drums can be placed on the machine. Milwaukee will also launch its own line of 5/8- and ¾-inch cable in 25-, 50- and 100-foot lengths.

After analyzing hundreds of different types of equipment and their limitations, Milwaukee chose five other product focuses for the initial launch of MX FUEL. In addition to the Sewer Drum Machine, the MX FUEL lineup includes the following:

• MX FUEL 14-inch Cut Off Saw: The world’s first battery-powered 14-inch cut off saw provides the fastest cuts from start to finish with no gas headaches.
• MX FUEL Breaker: The first breaker in Milwaukee’s history, it delivers the fastest demolition rate, 70 percent less vibration, and can demo 2 tons of concrete per charge.
• MX FUEL Hand Held Core Drill: Safer and easier coring thanks to AUTOSTOP Technology that stops the drill from doing a 360-degree swing-around, and provides power to core 6-inch holes through reinforced concrete.
• MX FUEL Portable Inverter Generator: Able to power more, on demand with 3600W peak power and the ability to use indoors due to no fumes.
• MX FUEL Tower Light/Charger: Capable of withstanding a storm, this light stands 12-feet high and is capable of 27,000 lumens – more than any other Milwaukee light to-date.

Each of these MX FUEL Equipment solutions will also incorporate Milwaukee’s One-Key technology to easily track and manage the tools.
