Plumber involved in deadly NYC gas explosion has license revoked

March 3, 2016

New York City’s Department of Buildings has stripped the license of Andrew Trombettas, a master plumber who was involved in the East Village gas explosion that killed two people last year as part of a broader crackdown on the industry.

Trombettas rented out his license to an unaccredited plumber who was accused of  installing an illegal gas hookup at 121 Second Ave., which resulted in the March 2015 explosion that killed two people, according to the department. Despite his name on the filings, Trombettas never visited the site, according to the department. Earlier this month, he was charged with filing false paperwork.
