The City of Savannah, Ga., and Keep Savannah Beautiful presented Sandpiper Supply with the “Clean Business Seal” for its clean facility located in Midtown Savannah.
Areas residents nominated Sandpiper for the construction, maintenance and care of its facility in their neighborhood demonstrating an exceptional commitment to the community.
“They did what they said they were going to do,” said Rev. Dr. Betty Jones, president of the Feiler Park Neighborhood Association. “When Sandpiper came to the neighborhood association meeting and presented their plans for the site, they made a promise to the neighborhood and kept that promise. Every time, I come by here it is clean and attractive.”
After relocating to its current address, Sandpiper constructed a new 2,000 sq. ft. showroom and warehouse on what was once an industrial equipment rental business. Now, almost 10 years later, area residents recognize and appreciate the contribution and presence Sandpiper has had in their community.
The “Clean Business Seal” recognizes businesses for their efforts in beautifying and maintaining the business exemplifying community pride and concern for the neighborhood, setting a positive example for others to follow.
Working in the business together for 40 years, husband and wife team Chat and Carol Howard continue to run the business. Their children Christy Ellis and Chat Howard, Jr., who grew up in the business, continue the family tradition of customer and community excellence as they carry Sandpiper into the next generation.
“We appreciate business partners who work so well with the community and residents who live around businesses like this,” said Savannah Alderman Estella Shabazz.
